4 best collections at Budapest Fashion Week
Spread the love

Budapest Fashion Week is growing rapidly from season to season. About 90 guests arrived this year to see the collections of local designers – journalists, influencers, stylists and buyers, so local brands had to really try. Not everyone succeeded, but many brands have already decided on their concept and are methodically honing their chosen style. Vogue.ua chief editor Violetta Fedorova chose the most interesting of them.

Nanushka

Nanushka is the main star of Hungarian fashion, thanks to which, in principle, the world began to talk about Made in Hungary brands. In the center of Budapest there is a two-story brand store with a bar area at the entrance where you can drink a fashionable match or cappuccino with lactose-free milk. This combination of business and pleasure is felt in everything that Sandra Sandor, the founder of Nanushka, does. Her clothes are saturated with functionality, it is easy to wear every day, but at the same time she is pleasing to the eye and looks great in the photo, which in Instagram is no less important than comfort and quality.

The new spring-summer collection of the brand is inspired by a specific person, at a certain point in time, in a certain place, namely the image of Lulu de la Falez during her vacation in Greece in the summer of 1972. Thanks to these three components, the eclectic taste of the Frenchwoman herself, who was able to wear the most sophisticated accessories, the bohemian mood of the seventies and the relaxed spirit of the southerners, was mixed in the collection. So, Nanushka's signature laconic silhouettes were complemented by handmade weaving, reminiscent of fishing nets, linen light dresses look emphasized minimalist, vegan leather trousers and shirts are adjacent to ultra-comfortable sandals, and knitted sarafans and loose solid silk dresses can easily become the basis of the wardrobe next summer .

Love at Nanushka and work with accessories. Huge soft bags resembling pillows, woven hats with high tops and narrow brim, as well as sunglasses with long ropes instead of traditional chains, claim to be the best seller.

Abodi

The ABODI brand was created in 2013 and over its seven years of existence boasts a rather large army of stellar fans. In different images from Dora Abody, one could notice Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Kylie Jenner and Rita Oru. The reason for this demand is the right dose of insolence paired with conspicuous details and a clear cut. It is such clothes that attract attention both on the stage and at a public event.

ABODI spring-summer 2020

Dora Abodi herself describes the aesthetics of ABODI as baroque futurism with Gothic motifs. It sounds complicated, but in fact, in the new spring-summer collection and brand, black leather is adjacent to colorful prints and neon colors, the baroque thirst for decor is balanced by the exact cut, and the sport naturally combines with a light drama inherent in the Gothic culture. The eccentricity of the collection is felt in every stitch, but reaches its climax in the finale when transgender models step on the catwalk – the hall does not hold back emotions, and they go so boldly, at ease, and at the same time get high from the moment that I want to call the ABODI spring-summer 2020 show real the anthem of freedom and equality.

Nubu studio

Nubu Studio is another beloved brand among local fashionistas, who have even been entrusted with developing a uniform for Hungarian athletes performing at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The brand was founded in 2007, during which time it acquired two boutiques in Budapest, and its collections are based on a love of architecture, urbanism and product design.

The spring-summer 2020 collection is no exception. The functional cut is combined with a restrained color scheme, and sports notes add the classic silhouettes of the necessary practicality. For example, capes on the catwalk floor are adjacent to bright anoraks, skirts decorated with watercolor patterns look organically with vests in the manner of workers, and romantic pleating does not argue with frankly sports bags.

Kata szegedi

The Kata Szegedi brand attracts attention with contrasts, and the designer Kata Szegedi stands for the maximum manifestation of his own personality. And she suggests expressing it with the help of outfits, as if created from rustling colored foil. These are easy to imagine somewhere at a New Year's holiday or at a noisy party in the best traditions of Studio 54. Szegedi herself says that the main source of inspiration for this collection was the work of Dada artist Jean Arpa, a master of bold color combinations.

Another important aspect of Kata Szegedi's work is sustainability. For example, the very metallized fabric is a vintage textile, which the designer purchased in very limited quantities. New fabrics are also used in the collections, but they are all made taking into account all environmental requirements. The designer simply explains this approach: "We rely on quality, not quantity. As a niche brand, we are ready to limit the supply so that there is no overproduction and wasteful use of the resources of our planet."
