Spring trend: shoes with square toe
Cooked jeans, lurex dresses and predatory prints – designers continue to draw inspiration from the style of the late 1980s. Now it is time to return accessories from that time period – the main shoes of the summer claim to be ankle boots, shoes and sandals with square toes.

One of the first to notice these models was Demna Gvasalia, who, in the spring-summer collection of Balenciaga, presented several variations on the topic at once – ankle boots, which were additionally decorated with a metal brand logo, looked more effective in his performance.

Paid attention to this model and Karl Lagerfeld. In the Fendi Spring-Summer 2019 collection, he demonstrated that square toed shoes can look feminine and elegant. His shoes fit his leg tightly, and their decor is reminiscent of stained glass.

However, the eighties were not the first decade of the popularity of square-toed shoes. Twenty years earlier, women of the 1960s had already fallen in love with them. The passion for geometric shapes is reflected in the design of shoes – a square toe and a low square heel became indispensable attributes of fashionable shoes of that period.

Fashion historians, in turn, say that the first shoes with square toes appeared in the 1830s, but that’s another story, especially since there is something to choose from today in the spring-summer 2019 collections.
